The infinity of the desert closes in front of the impossibility of the escape. Labyrinthic freedom, remains the inevitable wandering, of the exile to oneself ...

Place of all possible, the desert crystallizes the desires, the hopes but this idealized interpretation turns out so misleading. The desert is given as immensity, dimension infinitely opened zone but also as a limit, an impassable natural barrier. This symbolic space of freedom is only a delusion. The desert turns out an insoluble riddle which inevitably defeats humans. The desert closes on them as trapped in a labyrinth. There is no more exit than truth or solution. As Sisyphus condemned in inevitable resumption, the character is here condemned to roam in the desert. In this project, the desert is used as the mental space of utopia. It defines metaphorically the place and the commitment of humans: it is the place of the challenge, the overtaking. To start up, by all the verticality, all the horizontality and go at crossroads, first movement of the being, the one, always in quest, and nevertheless it is the won fight and already lost by the (im)possible freedom. For the public entering this installation’s space, it is to face the paradoxical dimension of the world.
